System Center Operations Manager 2016 - Prerequisites & Installation Process - Part 1

Hello Everyone,

In this blog, I will explain about SCOM 2016 prerequisites & installation process. SCOM 2016 is a part of System Center 2016 Suite. Introduction about SCOM is already explained in 2012 R2 series.

Let's start with Prerequisites for SCOM 2016...



PREREQUISITES:


SCOM 2016 has upgraded version prerequisites from older version which includes below:


  • Microsoft Report viewer 2015 Runtime

  • Microsoft SQL Server CLR Types for SQL 2016 or SQL 2014 (In my lab, I have used SQL Server 2014 SP2)

   CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD FOR 2014 SP2 OR DIRECT DOWNLOAD FOR 2014 SP2



  • Compatible OS: Windows Server 2012 R2 STD/DC & Windows Server 2016 with GUI.

  • SQL Server 2014 SP2 or SQL Server 2016

  • Internet Explorer 11 for Web console.

  • .Net framework 4.5.2 or above.

  • Web Server Role (IIS)

  • Make sure that Remote Registry Service for Reporting must be running

  • Once all prerequisites are complete, Reboot Server before starting SCOM installation.

  • Required Accounts:



SCOM 2016 INSTALLATION:


There is no difference in installation process. All steps are same as followed for SCOM 2012 R2.

No need to explain installation steps here as every screen in same. Post-installation, I will explain new features & available options in SCOM 2016 in my next upcoming posts.
