System Center Operations Manager 2016 - Introduction, Prerequisites & Installation Process for Savision Live Map Tool - Part 2

Hello Everyone,

This post is to explain about new tool which can be integrated with SCOM to create Live Map or Live Dashboards using Global Maps. This tool gives You multiple options to create unique dashboards for Your monitoring environment using built-in available geographical maps & other features inside the tool.

You can not only integrate this tool with SCOM but this can be integrated with Service Manager where You have multiple out-of-box built in service dashboard to use.

Let's start with evaluating Live Map in SCOM using SAVISION Live Map Tool.


PREREQUISITES:


This tool has very minimal prerequisites. Main requirement is to have SCOM Console on machine.

For better performance, it is recommended to install the tool on remote machine but You can install on same machine as well.

If installing on same machine then make sure You have enough resources available on machine.


Latest Tool Version details: Live Map 8.4 for System Center.

Prerequisites includes:

  • SCOM Console
  • Savision Latest version tool
  • License Key
  • Minimum Resources: 4 GB RAM & 4 vCPU


SAVISION LIVE MAP 8.4 - INSTALLATION PROCESS:


Installation Process includes 3 main categories which includes:


  • Live Map Authoring Console
  • Live Map Operation Manager Extension
  • Live Map Portal


LIVE MAP AUTHORING CONSOLE - INSTALLATION PROCESS:


Run the Savision Live Map setup as administrator:




Click on Advance Installation:




Click on "Install Live Map Authoring Console":



Click on Next:



Accept License Agreement & Click Next:



Click Next:



Click Next:




Click Close once installation completed:



Click on Window Button from Keyboard & Click on Savision Live Map Authoring Console as shown below:




Provide Management Server name & valid License Key for first time. It will start connecting SCOM Management Server to install required Management Packs:





Default Console of "Live Map Authoring Console":




Open SCOM Console to see installed Management Packs for Savision Live Map during installation process:




LIVE MAP OPERATION MANAGER EXTENSION - INSTALLATION PROCESS:


Run the Savision Setup as Administrator & Click on "Install Live Map Operation Manager Extension":



Click on Next:




Click on Next:




Click on Close:





LIVE MAP PORTAL - INSTALLATION PROCESS:


Run the setup as administrator & Click on "Install Live Map Portal":



Click Next:


Accept License Terms & Click Next:


Choose Authentication Method & Click Next:


Give SCOM Management Server Name & Click Next:



Click Next:



Now, If You want to install Live Map Website within any created Sites in IIS manager then choose Website else choose child component. If I choose website and no new site is created in IIS Manager then it will information as shown below:



Error Message:




Either create new website or Choose Child Component and Click Next:



Click Next:


Give New Pool name, user name, password & click configure:


Click Install:


Click Finish:


Open Live Map Portal & Sign-in to the portal:


Default Live Map Portal:



All installation is completed.

System Center Operations Manager 2016 - Prerequisites & Installation Process - Part 1

Hello Everyone,

In this blog, I will explain about SCOM 2016 prerequisites & installation process. SCOM 2016 is a part of System Center 2016 Suite. Introduction about SCOM is already explained in 2012 R2 series.

Let's start with Prerequisites for SCOM 2016...



PREREQUISITES:


SCOM 2016 has upgraded version prerequisites from older version which includes below:


  • Microsoft Report viewer 2015 Runtime

  • Microsoft SQL Server CLR Types for SQL 2016 or SQL 2014 (In my lab, I have used SQL Server 2014 SP2)

   CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD FOR 2014 SP2 OR DIRECT DOWNLOAD FOR 2014 SP2



  • Compatible OS: Windows Server 2012 R2 STD/DC & Windows Server 2016 with GUI.

  • SQL Server 2014 SP2 or SQL Server 2016

  • Internet Explorer 11 for Web console.

  • .Net framework 4.5.2 or above.

  • Web Server Role (IIS)

  • Make sure that Remote Registry Service for Reporting must be running

  • Once all prerequisites are complete, Reboot Server before starting SCOM installation.

  • Required Accounts:



SCOM 2016 INSTALLATION:


There is no difference in installation process. All steps are same as followed for SCOM 2012 R2.
